About the Position
The Interdisciplinary Optophysiology Laboratory (https://www.optophysiology.uni-freiburg.de/) at the University of Freiburg is seeking a motivated Python developer or IT specialist to help maintain, improve, and extend our in-house data management system based on DataJoint.
This tool supports research data handling and visualization in neuroscience projects, and your work will directly contribute to advancing cutting-edge research at the intersection of data science and brain research.
Your Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the existing Python-based data management application DataJoint
- Implement new features, optimize performance, and enhance usability
- Manage and integrate SQL-based databases
- Develop and refine the graphical user interface (PyQt)
- Collaborate closely with researchers to adapt the tool to evolving project needs
Your Profile
- Excellent programming skills in Python (mandatory)
- Experience with data management, data integration, or SQL databases is a plus
- Familiarity with PyQt or other GUI frameworks is advantageous
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and research environments
